One of the difficulties in selling online has always been the "impersonal reality" of online shopping. There is an increasing trend over the past few years towards using videos to promote and sell your products or services. Studies have shown that videos go a long way to selling and answering customer questions and objections to convert them into a sale.
It is very inexpensive to produce your product presentation videos. All you need is a decent off the shelf video production package (there are several on the market for under $50.00 USD), and you can use your digital camera to record what you want to express. Most digital cameras have a movie record function on them already, and some include video editing software tools. You just need to convert and save the video in a generally accepted web format like .mpg, .avi or .swf (Flash - requires additional software and knowledge).
Adding a basic "video download" to your product is simple and easy to do in ShopFactory. You can use your product image options and link it right in your product set-up wizard.
First you'll need to upload your source video file to your host. You can then create an "image" to use in the product set-up wizard to indicate the video option (as shown below). Just choose the image to indicate a video download as you would normally add through the product set-up wizard. Then click the "Link to another page or website" icon in the product set-up window:
You can then use the "Link to..." feature to create a link to the video file:
Save and republish your site. This will create a video download or open the file up in the browser when a visitor clicks on it (depending on their browser and browser settings). Obviously this is just one menthod, there are more ways to add video to your site such as embedded videos. But that will require some knowledge on using image/text layouts and HTML coding for video feeds. You can also add video players to your site.
